Terms of Service
Last updated: March 27, 2026
Welcome to VatCalc ("the Service", "the Tool", "we", "us", "our"). Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using VatCalc. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. About VatCalc
VatCalc is a professional online VAT calculator for EU businesses. The Service allows users to calculate Value Added Tax based on publicly available VAT rates for European Union member states. For full details about the operator, including company name, registration number, and registered address, please refer to our Legal Notice (Imprint).
2. Service Tiers
VatCalc is offered under a freemium model:
- Free Tier. Basic VAT calculations are available to all users without registration. No account or personal data is required to use the free features.
- Paid Tier. Advanced calculation features are available through a paid subscription. Use of the paid tier requires creating an account and accepting the applicable pricing and payment terms presented at the time of purchase.
We reserve the right to modify the features included in each tier, adjust pricing, or introduce new tiers at any time. Any pricing changes for existing paid subscribers will take effect at the start of the next billing cycle, and we will notify affected users in advance.
3. User Accounts
To access certain features, you may create an account by providing a valid email address and setting a password. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate information and to notify us promptly of any unauthorized use of your account.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or remain inactive for an extended period.
4. Payments and Refunds
Paid subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring basis according to the billing cycle you select. Payment is processed through our third-party payment provider. By subscribing, you authorize recurring charges to your chosen payment method.
You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you will retain access to paid features until that date. Refunds are handled in accordance with applicable EU consumer protection laws. If you are a consumer within the EU, you have the right to withdraw from a digital service purchase within 14 days of the transaction, provided you have not begun using the paid features. Once you actively use paid features, you acknowledge that the right of withdrawal may no longer apply.
5. Informational Purpose Only
The calculations provided by VatCalc are for informational and estimation purposes only. They do not constitute tax, legal, or financial advice. VAT rates, rules, thresholds, and exemptions are subject to change by national governments and EU institutions at any time.
You should always verify applicable VAT rates and obligations with official sources — such as your national tax authority or the European Commission — before making business, compliance, or filing decisions.
6. No Guarantee of Accuracy
While we make reasonable efforts to keep VAT rate data current and accurate, we make no warranties or representations, express or implied, regarding the completeness, accuracy, reliability, or suitability of the information and calculations provided. EU VAT regulations involve standard rates, reduced rates, super-reduced rates, parking rates, zero rates, and numerous exemptions that vary by product category, transaction type, and jurisdiction. The Tool applies general rates and may not reflect your specific circumstances.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, VatCalc and its operator shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Service. This includes, but is not limited to, losses resulting from errors in calculations, outdated rate information, service interruptions, or decisions made based on the Tool's output.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable EU or Romanian law, including liability for fraud or wilful misconduct.
8. No Professional Relationship
Use of VatCalc does not create any professional-client relationship, including but not limited to an accountant-client, tax advisor-client, or attorney-client relationship. For specific VAT compliance, cross-border, or OSS/IOSS questions, consult a qualified tax professional in the relevant jurisdiction.
9. Acceptable Use
You agree to use VatCalc only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:
- Use the Service in any way that could damage, disable, or impair its operation.

You may use the Service for your personal and business reference purposes but may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the Service or its underlying data without written permission.
11. Availability and Modifications

We are not obligated to maintain, support, or update the Service indefinitely. We may also revise these Terms at any time by updating this page and changing the "Last updated" date. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

13. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Romania and applicable European Union regulations. Any disputes arising from or in connection with these Terms shall be submitted to the competent courts in Romania. If you are a consumer residing in the EU, you also have the right to submit a complaint through the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
14. Severability
